A man was executed last month in Changsha, capital of Hunan Province, after being found guilty of killing his male lovers during sadomasochistic sex sessions.

S&M killer executed for choking gay lovers

Zhou Youping, 42, who worked as a pub singer, embarked on a killing spree in 2009 after advertising online for men to be his “sex slaves,” Xiaoxiang Morning Herald reported yesterday.

Zhou said he was looking for men aged 23 to 40 who were prepared to engage in erotic asphyxiation — a sexual act involving cutting off the supply of oxygen to the brain to increase sexual pleasure — for which he would pay them, the report said.

After receiving numerous applications, Zhou selected six and arranged to meet them in hotels in Changsha.

In court, prosecutors said that while the men agreed to be “hanged” during sex, they were unaware that Zhou had no plans to release them afterwards. He simply left them to choke to death, the report said.

The dead bodies of six men were found in different hotels between October 11 and November 26, 2009. Zhou was arrested two days later and confessed his crimes to police, the report said.

The Changsha Intermediate People’s Court sentenced him to death for murder in March 2011, the report said.

At appeal, Zhou was exonerated of four of the murders, but the death sentence was upheld. The Supreme People’s Court approved the sentence on August 29 and Zhou was executed later the same day, the report said.
