Senior Chinese security official Meng Jianzhu urged efforts to promote China's judicial reform while on an inspection tour that ended on Thursday.

Meng, chief of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, exchanged ideas about the reform with local judges, prosecutors and lawyers as he inspected northeast China's Jilin Province from Tuesday.

He said it must combine top-level design with local realities and experience.

The official asked judicial reform pilot areas including Jilin to trial institutional innovation and establish reproducible and propagable systems.

The reform is a vital part of overall political reform being carried out for people's well-being, Meng said.
