Shang is a singer and songwriter who rocketed to fame in 2006 after winning the third season of the Chinese singing contest Super Girl. Apart from her profession in the music industry, Shang, who has a diploma in French Language from the prestigious Fudan University in Shanghai, is also known for her contributions to film festivals, sports, and the translation of French literature.

Her excellence in these various fields and her pursuit of a positive social image has won her a position in Madame Tussauds in Beijing, according to museum authorities.

Madame Tussauds staff members said on Friday that London-based wax figure makers came to Beijing last year to gather Shang's measurements, which were needed for the wax figure.

"Shang has smooth skin and hair, and that means the production team will need more time to work on the details. In addition, Shang's richly expressive eyes were another challenge for us, since Madame Tussauds focuses on a figure's eyes the most," a senior wax figure maker said.

Madame Tussauds opened its Beijing museum on May 31 at the historic Qianmen Street, making Beijing the fourth Chinese city to host a Madame Tussauds, after Hong Kong, Shanghai and Wuhan.
