A female tourist surnamed Chen alleged that she and her family were brutally assaulted by staff members and her tour guide at a horse ranch, when they refused to pay for the horseback-riding activity.

Chen said she refused to take the horseback-riding, considering her father was 76 years old.

But the staff members and her tour guide insisted that they should pay 100 yuan per person or 16 U.S. dollars, even though they did not take it, she said.

As she was complaining about this "unreasonable" charge to one of the staff, a dozen men hit her and her husband.

An onlooker provided a photo showing that Chen lying on the ground.

He also revealed the group of men assaulted Chen's family and a dozen of them had hit Chen for some 3 minutes.

Chen was diagnosed with a bone fracture on her left palm and a suspected concussion in a local hospital after she stayed there for 10 days.

Local authorities on December 11 confirmed the assault and said, besides Chen, one of the staff members at the ranch was also injured.

Authorities said the two sides now had disputes over compensations as Chen asked for 60,000 yuan and the ranch wanted to pay lower.

They are still negotiating on the matter.
