The Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR)government will fully leverage the advantages of the "one country, two systems" principle to achieve long-term stability and prosperity of the region, Chief Executive of the SAR Chui Sai On said here Friday.

Chui was speaking at a welcoming banquet for Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, who arrived Friday for celebrations marking the 15th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.

With the strong support from the central government, the new-term SAR government will also pool the wisdom and power of people to achieve the goals, said Chui.

Chui expressed thanks to the trust and support from the president and the central government, adding that the SAR government and the Macao people have stood together to implement the principles of "one country, two systems", "Macao people governing Macao" and a high degree of autonomy, and persist in implementing the Basic Law.

"The successful implementation of 'one country, two systems' provides Macao with important institutional protection to ensure a brighter and better future," said Chui, citing Macao's achievements in the past 15 years.

Facing the future, Chui pledged that the Macao SAR will be brave, strong and aggressive as the region will proceed forward from a new milestone.

Chui, re-elected the fourth-term chief executive on Aug. 31, and the fourth-term government of the Macao SAR are set to be sworn in on Saturday.
