A patient infected with the H7N9-strain of avian flu has died in Xiamen City in the east China province of Fujian, the local health and family planning commission said on Tuesday.

The commission did not disclose further details but confirmed four other cases of H7N9 in humans.

One person has already recovered but three remain in a critical condition, the commission said.

The health authorities in Xiamen said they were closely monitoring the patients while enhancing measures to control the outbreak.
