Wealthy Chinese tourists descended upon Japanese shops in a buying frenzy this Spring Festival holiday, with one buyer even mailing back a "house" after a shopping spree.

Xu Dong (alias) received Japanese goods packed in a 1.5-meter-long container cube on behalf of a friend during Spring Festival, which cost a total of 200,000 yuan ($31,980) including tax and transport fees, Shanghai Morning Post reported on Friday.

Xu said the container contained TV sets, air-conditioners, audio equipment, refrigerators, toilet seats, air purifiers and other household appliances which are meant to furnish his friend's new house.

Some 450,000 Chinese tourists are estimated to have spent almost 6 billion yuan on shopping in Japan in the 10 days of Spring Festival holidays, according to a Japanese TV report.
