China completed its first turbofan-powered-simulator (TPS) negative thrust wind tunnel test on Feb. 26, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center (CARDC) at the Low Speed Aerodynamics Institute (LSAI) has been preparing for the test since 2009. A wind tunnel eight meters long and six meters wide was built to carry out the test.

A TPS test can simulate all the power conditions of an engine so that researchers can study how an engine affects the flight of an aircraft. The completion of the test is of great significance for China's large aircraft research and development.
