5 officials probed for suspected corruption

Five Chinese officials are under investigation after being suspected of taking bribes, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) announced Monday.

Cui Lifu, former deputy director of Jilin provincial human resource and social security department, was arrested and being investigated for corruption by the Changchun municipal procuratorate in northeastern Jilin province.

Wuhan municipal procuratorate in central Hubei province placed Lin Guosheng, former Communist Party chief of the Wuhan federation of trade unions, under investigation for suspectedly taking bribes. He is under "coercive measures" which include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest in accordance with China's criminal procedure law.

Three former officials in southern Guangdong province have been placed under investigation and "coercive measures" by the Guangdong provincial procuratorate for suspectedly taking bribes.

The Guangdong procuratorate is investigating Huang Jianjun, former Party chief of the Guangdong Grid Co. Ltd., Cai Guangliao, former deputy Party chief of Guangdong public security department and a major general in the military, and Liang Yimin, former Party chief of Maoming city.
