A 46-year-old photographer has been arrested for molesting a 6-year-old German girl during a photo shoot, prosecutors in Huangpu District, Shanghai said yesterday.

The molester Li Botao admitted molesting the child.

According to prosecutors, the girl was invited to take part in a modeling assignment at a photo studio on Xizang Road S. in Huangpu District last December. On December 27, her mother took her to the studio where Li was the photographer for the shoot. He was assisted by a woman who helped with the child's costume.

After the child's mother went to check the pictures in another room, Li asked the assistant to fetch some new clothes for the child. Alone with the girl, Li molested her.

The girl later told her mother that the photographer touched her private parts. She immediately called the police and filed a complaint with the studio's manager.

Li was detained by the police the next day but denied anything happened. Eventually he admitted the temptation to fondle the pretty girl lying on the bed was simply too much.
