College dorm monitors are largely despised in China. Sometimes, they turn off the electricity at night without warning to make students go to bed, or walk in on students who are changing for unexpected sanitary inspections. But this monitor did something even more serious – thwart a confession of love between two students.

On Saturday night, a girl wearing a wedding gown went to a male student's dorm to confess her love at Northwest University in Xi'an, according to Sina Weibo user WMloveDX. However, the dorm monitor wouldn't let her in or let the young man out because it has past the dorm building's closing time. The girl cried and left in the end.

Some web users said the monitor was too hard-hearted in ruining their romantic night. But others said the girl should timed her confession better, and that the young man could have climbed out of the window on the ground floor if he was determined enough to accept her love.
