A famous Chinese cuisine has become popular after its advertisement was played on the big screen at Times Square in New York City.

In the advertisement, a photo of 'Reganmian', a kind of hot and dry noodles served with sesame paste, popular in Wuhan in Hubei Province is shown on screen with a greeting in Wuhan dialect meaning 'Have you eaten yet, New York?', according to a Weibo post released on Saturday by a student from Wuhan who is studying in the U.S.

The advertisement was broadcasted on the screen for 10 times within one day.

Many web users have re-tweeted the news on their own weibo accounts exclaiming that the snack will be popular in New York.

Media reports say that the advertisement was produced and released by an internet financial service platform in Wuhan.

The platform's director says that the snack, as a symbol of Wuhan, could easily arouse all Wuhan citizens' resonation abroad.

They took five days to design, produce and finalize the advertisement, and eventually placed it on the screens in Times Square on Friday.

However, they did not disclose the specific amount of expense of the advertisement.

Many advertisements from Chinese cities and enterprises have been screened in Times Square since China's national image publicity film was broadcasted there in 2011.
