Twelve staff, including seven nursing personnel, at a fire-struck rest home in central China's Henan Province are in police custody for investigation, local authorities said.
The fire broke out at a row of bungalows at privately owned Kangleyuan Rest Home in Lushan County of Pingdingshan City on Monday night, killing 38 and injuring another six.
According to the city government, the cause of the fire is being investigated. In addition to the 12 staff in custody, police are still looking for another three staff members.
The blaze swept through 30 rooms covering 600 square meters, and 17 of the rooms had people in them. The 38 bodies have been sent to nearby funeral homes, and identification is under way.
