Photos of ancient frescos with children's images have been unveiled on the official WeChat account of a research institute studying the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang in northwest China's Gansu province.

The special collection was unveiled to the public to mark the Children's Day, which falls on June 1.

The 20 frescos portrayed childhood in ancient China, including the birth of a child, children's games, daily life and worship for the Buddha and studying Buddhist philosophy.

The Dunhuang Mogao Caves are a world famous cultural heritage site with delicate and well-preserved frescos and statues constructed thousands of years ago.
