China have unveiled an anti-corruption mobile app that allows the public to more easily report corruption, extravagant consumption by government officials and other disciplinary violations.

The Communist Party of China's disciplinary watchdog and its Ministry of Supervision of China have unveiled an anti-corruption mobile app that allows the public to more easily report corruption, extravagant consumption by government officials and other disciplinary violations.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC (CCDI) said that the new app includes a "one-button reporting" feature, an express function that allows users to submit photos, videos and corresponding text that show officials violating Party disciplinary by doing such things as hosting wasteful banquets, taking trips using public funds or holding extravagant weddings and funerals for relatives and friends.

In addition to a written report text of up to 500 Chinese characters, users can upload up to two photos or video files, each of which is limited to 5 megabytes or smaller, to document such disciplinary violations.

The app also does not require users to provide their real names when uploading reports, a clear message that the CPC's disciplinary body wants to protect users' anonymity while encouraging them to help keep an eye on Party officials’ behavior.

The app is intended to create a vast, convenient and fast supervision network of citizen users to combat corruption among officials and others on the government payroll. The CCDI says it aims to spread the message that the CPC disciplinary watchdog is resolute in its efforts to combat graft.
