Li Xia, a girl from north China's Hebei Province, was unlike most of the other guests in the hostel. She was not a college graduate and already had a job with a monthly pay of 9,500 yuan (US$1,530). She studied website development in a training school. Every year, the school took students to Hangzhou, got them accommodations in the hostel and found them jobs as website developers for various e-commerce companies.

Wen Shaobo, the owner of the hostel, has heard many stories like those of these three young girls. In his eyes, despite variations in the country's employment statistics every year, the crux of the problem has remained the same: Young people are always longing for jobs that are beyond their capabilities, while they are unwilling to accept menial or less rewarding work that they can handle.

After seeing the turmoil and struggle of so many young people, he has decided to lend them a hand. Over the past seven years, he has managed to get in touch with more than 20 state-run or private human resource agencies, 700 colleges and universities and 1,000 companies. Thanks to his efforts, thousands of his hostel's residents have found employment. Now he is planning to open a new hostel to help more young people, and he also hopes to write a novel based on their stories to call attention to their problem and seek more help from people in all walks of life.
