Five people were killed in Beijing's Fangshan District early this morning after a SUV caused multiple crashes with the driver fleeing the scene, Beijing local media reported.

The crashes took place at 6:20am today near a bus station. The SUV slammed into a sedan, causing the latter to veer into and knock down several pedestrians. The out-of-control SUV then crashed into the bus stop, knocking down another.

Four victims were killed on the scene while a man, 51, was later pronounced dead at hospital.

The SUV driver reportedly fled the scene and is still on the loose.
