E-mail Shanghai Daily, July 14, 2015A fugitive wanted in connection with a multimillion dollar swindle involving secondhand cars was behind bars in Shanghai yesterday after six years on the run, police said.
The suspect, Li Jinsheng, is accused of tricking several people in Shanghai and other parts of the country into investing in a scheme to buy and sell vehicles before disappearing with their money, they said.
Li was added to one of the Ministry of Public Security’s “Most Wanted” lists in 2009. Following years of investigation, police traced him to a property in Nanchang, east China’s Jiangxi Province, where he was detained on Friday.
A woman surnamed Han, who is suspected of being Li’s accomplice, was also taken into custody, police said.
