The Beijing transport authority confirmed on Monday that it will adopt an "odd-even plate number rule" from August 20 to September 3, two weeks before the 70th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

China will host a V-day parade on September 3, 2015, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory in War against Japanese Aggression as well as the World's Anti-Fascism War.

This move is to ensure good air quality and smooth transportation during the commemoration period.

The "odd-even plate number rule" has been implemented during events such as the 2008 Olympic Games and the APEC summit in 2014.
