China's Ministry of Public Security has urged police nationwide to strengthen checks to avoid accidents in traffic and fire in a bid to safeguard the upcoming V-day ceremony.

The traffic administration departments in all areas have started checks of vehicles with potential risk, especially vehicles transporting dangerous chemicals, tourist buses, school buses and others.

The traffic administrators will coordinate with traffic authority and work safety administrators to urge dangerous chemicals transporters to check the safety of every vehicle and strengthen training.

The fire department of the ministry on Tuesday convened a meeting to make arrangement for the V-day ceremony.

The department urged all fire departments in the country to learn the lesson from the Tianjin chemical storage blast, strengthening checks of potential risks.
