HK to hold ceremony for 70th anniversary of V-Day

Hong Kong's Acting Chief John Tsang and senior government officials will attend an official ceremony on Thursday to commemorate the 70th anniversary day of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government news website said here Tuesday.

The official ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. local time at the City Hall Memorial Garden, and will include a performance by the Police Band, singing of the national anthem by a choir from St Paul's Co-educational College, flag raising, a gun salute by the Police Rifle Squad, silence in mourning and wreath laying.

About 700 people, including judicial officers, a member of the Executive Council, a representative of the Legislative Council, representatives of war veteran groups, members of the community, uniformed groups and students will attend the ceremony.
