Sun Rong, the author of the cartoons, is a member of the medical students' formation from the Bethune Medical Officer School, which participated in the military parade on Thursday.

Those vivid cartoons by the 23-year-old depicted the great efforts made by the young ladies during their arduous training sessions in Beijing's training base. They also revealed how all 260 members of the formation were able to stand firmly on the emergency medical trucks during the parade.

The medical students at the Bethune Medical Officer School in China were the only completely female group to march in the parade in Beijing on Sept.3.

The team, named after the renowned Canadian doctor Norman Bethune, has attended China's National Day parades in 1984, 1999 and 2009.
