The cemetery, with an investment of 12.5 million yuan, or around 2 million US dollars, will be built at the core entrance of a national agricultural science and technology park. The cemetery will cover more than 20 square meters.

The cemetery will provide cremation services for pets, and the cremated remains will be used as fertilizer.

Name cards of pets can be hung on trees instead of tombstones or burial chambers.

The team behind the pet cemetery project intend to build a pet industry chain, so other projects, including special hotels and parks for pets, are also said to be planned within the area in three years.
