Guo Meimei was arrested in July 2014 for illegally running casinos. Guo gained notoriety in 2011 by claiming to be a manager affiliated with the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) while flaunting her extravagant lifestyle online.
Guo's behavior drew intense criticism among Chinese Internet users and dealt a major blow to the reputation of the RCSC, though she later denied her connection with the organization.
On July 7, 2014, Guo was detained by Beijing police over allegations that she participated in illegally running casinos.
Seven months after the arrest, Guo's case has been formally submitted to the court of Dongcheng District in Beijing, by the procuratorate of the same district.
