An image resembling a wolf appeared on a snowy mountain in Hailuogou National Forest Park, Southwest China's Sichuan province, and became a instant hit on WeChat and Sina Weibo, popular social networking platforms in China, as it was first captured by a tourist on Sunday morning.

A preliminary survey shows that the wolf image, given a temporary name "Wolf Totem", is a special natural phenomenon which can be seen when sunshine and clouds mingle to project on the mountain, West China Metropolis Daily citing a park official reported.

The Wolf Totem can be seen with the naked eye on a clear day after snow or rain, the report said.
