Some 930,000 people took the National Public Servant Exam in China Sunday, a 60,000 decrease from last year's figure.

But the number of 27,000 positions that candidates are competing for is a new high in several years, making this year the easiest one to land a government job.

The exam is still considered one of the most competitive tests in the country as only one out of every 33 is expected to get a government job this year.

Civil servant jobs are favored by many Chinese as they offer a relatively stable career, although the popularity of government posts has dropped in recent years.
