Construction of the Maliuzhou Tunnel, Hengqin's third passageway linking it with the outside world, will start soon.

Located in the Hengqin New Area, Maliuzhou Tunnel, China’s first superlong--diameter multiple formation tunnel constructed using the shield method, shield tunnel, has a total length of 2834.6 meters. Its outer diameter is 14.5 meters and the inner diameter, 13.3 meters.

The tunnel shield machine called Renxiang, with a diameter of 14.93 meters, will lead the construction of the tunnel. The machine is about 130 meters long and weighs over 1,300 tons.
