10 Zhuhai events to remember in 2015

In southern China's Zhuhai city, the year of 2015 was a year to remember. Zhuhai's GDP growth is expected to come first in the province. Also, high-speed railways linking Zhuhai with Beijing and Guilin opened. Additionally, Zhuhai's 2015 WTA Elite Trophy and the second China International Circus Festival were also held in the city. In fact, many other events closely related to the public remain vivid in the people's minds.
One: Zhuhai begins "free trade era"
On April 23, when the Hengqin Area of Zhuhai, China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone was officially established, Hengqin began its free trade era. From then on, the IDD (International Direct Dialing) price has been reduced greatly; the trading of Hong Kong stocks has become much easier in the free trade zone; parallel imported cars can enjoy after-sale services; Macao cars, coming into and going out of Hengqin, enjoy greater freedom; more overseas tour routes are being offered; high-end medical equipment has been introduced with low taxation.
Two: Zhuhai builds high-speed railways
At 8:50 a.m. on November 28, a high-speed train carrying more than 800 passengers departed from Zhuhai to Guilin. Also, at 19:07 the same day, a high-speed train left Beijing for Zhuhai. This marked the beginning of Zhuhai's high-speed railway era. People in Zhuhai can now leave for a journey without any delay. Also, this has proved very advantageous to logistics, tourism, investment and economic development as a whole.
Three: The Chimelong Group invests 50 billion yuan for a second theme park
The Chimelong Group invested 50 billion yuan to build a second theme park in Hengqin, including an Animal Kingdom, Ocean World, Ocean Adventure Park, Sports and Leisure Park, Tourism College, Maritime Museum, International Yacht Club and Nanwan Water Park.
Four: the upgrade of Lovers Road
Lovers Road, known as ‘the Great Wall' in Zhuhai, is a local landmark. The road has been facing a number of stubborn problems like inadequate recreational facilities and traffic congestion in recent years. To create itself as an international livable city, Zhuhai is upgrading Lovers Road, which includes the building of beach shorelines, a large sailing yacht base and 12 cultural centers. The transformed road is bound to amazing.
Five: 17 hospitals cancelled medicine markups
On March 29, 17 public hospitals in Zhuhai City cancelled medicine markups. Also, prices of 10 medical technology services were raised. Compared with the previous situation, most people's medical care costs have declined.
Six: Square dancing on the swimming beach
The "swimming beach" was officially opened to the public on April 26 of 2015. Shower compartments and tourist entrances were added to the bathrooms. Also, the fiber optic network was refitted and the internet speed was enhanced. Safety warning signs, three 6-meter-tall observatories and two lifeboats were installed. 16 full-time lifeguards are now standing by and ready to help people in need at any time.
As the environment has changed for the better, more people have been attracted to the area. Moreover, on the newly-built square, people can enjoy square dancing.
Seven: Regulation of parking lots issued
On June 29, the Zhuhai Municipal Administration and Forestry Bureau issued regulations on parking lots. According to the regulations, there are 47 existing approved parks in operation, among which 46 are located in urban areas, and one is in the Doumen District. People can refuse to pay parking fees for unlicensed parking lots.
Eight: Hengqin's first parallel imported car shop opened
On July 18, Hengqin's first parallel imported car shop was opened. 17 brands of luxury cars were shown to the public. It is understood that these parallel imported cars are 10 to 30 percent cheaper than those sold in domestic franchised dealers. Besides, this service provides better after-sales services, which gives buyers a sense of security.
Nine: Zhuhai works with Didi Kuaidi
Zhuhai jointly built a city taxi information service platform with Didi Kuaidi aiming to realize data docking, resource sharing and travel facilitation.
The platform focused on solving four major problems. The first is vehicle and driver identification. The second is the improvement of the driver service evaluation mechanism. The third is to explore an incentive and restraint mechanism for both passengers and drivers. Lastly, the platform was created to explore the appointment carpooling system and the corresponding discounts.
Ten: Non-Zhuhai residents of Guangdong can apply for Hong Kong and Macao travel permits in Zhuhai
From October 30, 2015 on, non-Zhuhai residents of Guangdong who are qualified can apply for common passports, Hong Kong and Macao travel permits and the Taiwan travel permits, in Zhuhai city, according to Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department. This policy has brought convenience to the residents.
