'One Belt and One Road' seminar held in Beijing

Research and Development International of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS-RDI), a leading think tank of China, held a seminar on “One Belt and One Road” Tuesday. During the seminar, the CASS-RDI Blue Book 2015 was also formally launched.

 

Dr. Zhao Baige, Vice Chair of NPC’s Foreign Affairs Committee and Chair, Advisory Committee of CASS-RDI was one of the main speakers and moderator of the seminar. Other speakers included Vice Minister Guo Yezhou from the International Department of Chinese Communist Party (CPC), Ambassador of Pakistan, Mr. Masood Khalid and Ambassador Sha Zukang,Chairman, China-Pakistan Friendship Association.

 

During the seminar, the speakers appreciated the role of CASS-RDI in promoting Chinese President Xi Jinping’s initiative of “One Belt and One Road” and highlighted it as a blueprint for enhancing regional connectivity and economic development.

 

They mentioned China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the flagship project of this initiative. The speakers appreciated the assistance by the Government of Pakistan in their endeavors to work towards the successful completion of CPEC.

 

The Ambassador of Pakistan in his speech appreciated the role of Dr. Zhao Baige and Ambassador Sha Zukang in promoting China-Pakistan relations. He underlined the significance of CPEC for enhancing regional connectivity, economic development and prosperity in the region. The Ambassador expressed the hope that CPEC will serve as a model for other such projects in the region.

 

Representatives from the Embassies of Georgia, Iran, Indonesia, as well as major Chinese Companies, think tanks and media were also present in the seminar.
