Chinese sounding rocket launched

Chinese scientists launched a sounding rocket from south China's Hainan Province in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Kunpeng-1B sounding rocket is launched in in Danzhou, south China's Hainan on April 27, 2016. The head of the rocket was equipped with a new altitude control system. New materials of flexible carbon fiber were also used in the rocket to enable easier flight. [Photo: Xinhua]

Kunpeng-1B was launched from Danzhou City at 2 a.m. by the National Space Science Center (NSSC).

The rocket fulfilled its mission of taking measurements in the upper atmosphere that will help with research of rocket sounding, high-speed flight and space tourism, said the NSSC.
