An air passenger has complained after she was charged almost 400 yuan (US$61.4) after boarding a VIP shuttle bus at Wenzhou airport, east China's Zhejiang province.
According to the Beijing Youth Daily, the passenger, Xiao Xin, claimed she was trying to help a colleague get his luggage onto the shuttle when it moved off.
It travelled for 300 metres and she was charged 398 yuan.
Xiao called the airport's complaints hotline, but was told that the price was clearly marked, and that she had been told the cost before getting on the shuttle.
Airport staff explained that the price of the fixed service didn't need official approval as it was targetted at a specific market.
Wenzhou Commodity Prices Administration said Xiao Xin's case was a difficult one, as it had not been made clear that economy class passengers taking the shuttle specifically for first-class passengers would be charged.
Zhang Qihuai from the Lanpeng law firm said shuttle bus prices were a matter for the airport and the bus operator, and passengers should in no way be involved.
