Eight parking spaces specially designed for female drivers have triggered controversy recently.

The parking space in a highway service area in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang province is painted in pink and 1.5 times larger than typical parking spaces.

The designer of the special parking space said that it is particularly devised for those women who are not good at parking their cars.

According to the director of the highway service area, they are also thinking about adding more as these special space is quite popular among female drivers.

Although with great popularity, there are people voicing opposition to the design.

More women consider that the presenting of the special parking space is a discrimination towards them for there is no proof of women's parking skills worse than men, and the "women are bad drivers" stereotype is just plain sexism.

One of the skilled female drivers said she has seen some male drivers bad at parking cars.
