The Institute of the Palace Museum said that it was the first time that a large-scale foundation from the Ming Dynasty has been discovered in the Forbidden City.

The palace complex served as homes to Chinese emperors in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and was China's highest center of power from 1420 to 1911.
