A dolphin was found stranded twice at a beach in south China. Workers on the beach found a dolphin at Lingshui beach, a popular tourist location in the southern Hainan Province on Thursday.

The workers who helped the dolphin immediately reported the situation to local authorities and then began to water and give medical care to the dolphin. Nothing more serious than scrapes were found on the dolphin's body.

Surprisingly, only a short time later, the dolphin was found stranded on the beach again.

The waves had been too challenging for the dolphin and had washed the animal back onto the shore. This time the Lingshui Oceanic and Fishery Administration staff arrived to help the dolphin back into the water.

The dolphin was dark grey and believed to be a long-beaked common dolphin, and belongs to the national first class of protected animals.

Staff on the beach said that groups of dolphins were often found playing in the nearby waters but were seldom stranded. The incessant strong wind and waves are believed to have resulted in the dolphin being stranded ashore.
