Daimler Trucks & Buses China Ltd. has issued a statement over its senior executive's disparaging comment on Chinese people, saying that what he said does not represent the company.

"We're deeply sorry about the dispute, and any comments made by our employees do not represent Daimler," the company said in the statement.

Rainer Gartner, president and CEO at Daimler Trucks & Buses China Ltd., insulted Chinese people last Sunday, saying that "I am in China one year already. The first thing I learned here is:All you Chinese are bastard!"

His remark came after an incident in a parking lot with a Chinese driver at a residential community in Beijing's northeastern Shunyi District.

The quarrel drew passersby to come and defend the Chinese, but they were pepper sprayed by the German executive.

In a bid to address outrage on China's social media, Daimler China said it will work with related agencies to investigate the case and make every effort to solve the problem.

"Like everywhere, Daimler has long been upholding the values of equality and mutual-respect in China, and is dedicated to shouldering its social responsibilities," it added.
