The provincial transport authority says the accident has also left 37 others injured and 56 vehicles damaged as the rescue work ended last night.

The accident happened on Monday morning when multiple vehicles bumped into each other on a section of a high-speed highway linking Beijing with Kunming.

The snowy and rainy weather is believed to have been a factor causing the accident.
