Liu Lin, a 21-year-old girl from southwest China's Sichuan Province, who is a sophomore at Chengdu University, has melted the hearts of thousands after she brought her ill grandma to university so that she could take care of her.

Misfortunes have continuously struck the family since March 2016. Not long after her grandma suffered from a comminuted fracture in her left femur, a similar accident happened to her mom, and in mid-April, her father passed away from an aggravated physical condition. She even missed her last chance to see her dad because she was in class, and she had left her phone in the dorm, thus unable to receive the message in time.

As soon as the 2016 summer vacation arrived, Liu and her younger brother rushed back home, and saw their ailing grandma lying in bed and her mom, who had recently just recovered from her own injury, struggling to care for her under unbearable mental pressure.

Liu's grandma had a hard life. Her husband and her three sons have all passed away. Therefore, Liu and her brother shouldered the responsibility to care for their 93-year-old grandma. However, with Liu being a university student, and her brother working in a supermarket in Chengdu, it is impossible for them to come home frequently.

"We have no other option. No one in the family can take care of grandma," Liu explained.

On August 3, 2016, they rented a car, loaded grandma's wheelchair, quilts and luggage, and headed to Chengdu. Liu rented a one-room apartment on campus, added some daily necessities and settled down while her brother continued to work in a supermarket to support the new family.

Liu grew up being cared for by her grandmother. She was sent to her grandma's when she was two because her parents were working in south China's Guangdong Province. Liu said that she planned to bring grandma with her after she graduates from university and finds a job, but changes happen.

"I was brought up by my granny and now it's my turn to take care of her," said Liu.

Liu's deed of taking her grandma to university has been widely spread in Chengdu University. Her filial piety and tenacity touched many teachers and students, some of whom have brought her daily necessities.

A person from the Marketing Department of Chengdu University said that the school is offering a better teacher apartment to Liu cost-free, as well as a part-time job.
