The top anti-graft body of the Communist Party of China (CPC) said Tuesday that 3,028 officials had been punished for violating the Party's austerity rules in February.

They were involved in 2,077 cases, according to an article on the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) website.

China punished 7,103 officials in 4,855 cases in the first two months of 2017, the CCDI article said.

Awarding unauthorized bonuses was the most common misdemeanor, while sending or accepting gifts and misuse of public vehicles were the second- and third-most common.

The CPC released its eight-point rules on austerity in late 2012 to reduce undesirable work practices.
