The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has made remarkable achievement in transportation integration in the past three years, and a "one-hour commuting circle” between the cities is forming, according to a report on the development of the region released on June 26.

In the railway sector, intercity railways remain a priority. At present, an intercity railway network in Beijing and Tianjin that centers on three mainlines of Beijing-Tianjin, Beijing-Baoding-Shijiazhuang, and Beijing-Tangshan-Qinhuangdao is forming. Meanwhile, the intercity rail line S6, which is under construction, will develop into a key traffic corridor linking the Beijing Capital International Airport, the new airport and new cities along it.

In road construction, the roads with dead ends have been dealt with. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region has opened and expanded the expressways and trunk roads with dead ends that have a total length of more than 1,400 kilometers.

At the end of last year, the Hebei section of Miyun-Zhuozhou Expressway was opened to traffic, marking the completion of a 1,000-kilometer-long alternative to the ring highways in the capital city. The expressway around Beijing connects major cities like Chengde and Langfang in Hebei.

Additionally, logistics has been significantly improved in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The airport cluster in the region has begun to take shape, and a world-class aviation hub with Beijing’s new airport as its core is under development.

The region will launch nine transport projects including the railway from Beijing to Bazhou by 2020. In the future, commuting between the major cities in the core areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will only take 30 minutes to one hour.
