On August 10, a delegation of over 300 merchants from Beijing's wholesale markets like Dahongmen, Tianyi, Jingwen, Danbihua, Caihua, Bairong and the Beijing Zoo wholesale market paid a visit to the wholesale markets in Baigou, a commercial town in China's Hebei Province. The commercial town has marked out 300,000 square meters of land to accommodate the Beijing clothing vendors to be relocated from the Beijing Zoo wholesale market and Dahongmen.

The 300,000-square-meter trading area is mainly composed of three buildings of the Baigou Red Gate International Garment City. Mr. Zhang, who has sold bags and suitcases for over 20 years at Tianyi, said vendors in Tianyi will be relocated by the end of September, and he and other vendors there prefer Baigou to be their next destination. This is because Baigou as a well-established market has influences nationwide, especially when it comes to bags and cases, so moving there can help them expand to new markets.

An official in charge of the relocation of Dahongmen wholesale market said that Baigou offers vendors a favorable location, trading infrastructure, logistics facilities, and a mature market in particular for bags, cases, and small commodities.

An official of Hedao International, a trading center of bags and cases in Baigou, said that the 14 major markets in Baigou can accommodate Beijing vendors from industries like bags and suitcases, garment, small commodities, fabrics, beddings, shoes and hats. As of today, Hedao International has set up a specialized area to accommodate vendors of bags and suitcases from Tianyi, Bairong and Danbihua. Moreover, the Baigou International Trade City has marked out a 60,000-square-meter area for vendors of fabrics and beddings from Tianyi, Bairong and Danbihua. The Baigou-Beijing Small Commodity City with a total area of 50,000 square meters will accommodate vendors of small commodities from Tianyi, Bairong and Danbihua.

At present, relocated Beijing vendors of small commodities and fabrics can be exempted from rental payment for two years and property management fees for one year in Baigou. In addition, they can also enjoy a series of pilot preferential policies of international procurement as well as convenient financial service in terms of loans. The government will also help address their medical care and housing issues, as well as the school enrollment of their children.
