Chinese doctor Bai Shufang, dressed up as a Peking Opera artist, is pictured as she examines a patient at a hospital in Beijing on August 15, 2017.

In Bai Shufang's experience, she found some patients were reluctant to talk about their conditions with her, which has indirectly affected the results of their treatment.

To address the problem and build closer relationships with her patients, Bai tried Peking Opera facial makeup and costumes to help her patients relax.

Since August 8, she has spent at least one hour getting made up each day.

Some netizens have questioned Bai's practice. But the doctor said she felt that her patients were more relaxed and willing to open their hearts to her.

The head of the hospital has offered support to Bai, saying her move can lead to positive results.
