Guo Weimin:

Thank you, Mr. Wang Xiaohui. Now we open the floor for questions. Please identify your news agency before you ask your questions. Let's begin. We will have a translator when you ask your question in English.

Guangming Daily:

You just mentioned that there will be a large exhibition to display the great accomplishments of the People's Republic of China for its 70th anniversary since its founding. We are very interested in this exhibition. What is its theme and special characteristics? What innovations are there for this exhibition? Thank you.

Cong Liang:

Thank you for your question and thank you for your interest in the exhibition. Just now, Mr. Wang Xiaohui gave a brief introduction on the overall plan of the exhibition. I will elaborate with more details on the issues you are concerned about.

This exhibition focuses on the theme of "forging and developing the socialist path with Chinese characteristics, and building a modern socialist country." It fully publicizes and displays the glorious history, great achievements, and valuable experiences made and gained by all members of Communist Party of China (CPC), with comrades Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and Xi Jinping as their main representatives, in forging and developing the socialist path with Chinese characteristics, and in building a modern socialist country, through uniting and leading the entire Party, the entire army and the people of all ethnic groups in the past 70 years. In particular, it publicizes and displays the great endeavors made by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core in implementing the five-sphere integrated plan and the four-pronged comprehensive strategy through uniting and leading the entire Party, the entire army and the people of all ethnic groups since the 18th National Congress of the CPC. At present, the basic arrangements for the exhibition have been completed and further revisions and improvements are now underway. To be more specific, the exhibition has the following special characteristics in three areas:

The first area is to highlight the adherence to the Party's leadership. The great achievements made in the past 70 years were all accomplished under the leadership of the CPC. Without the CPC, there would be no New China, and there would be no such great achievements in building socialism with Chinese characteristics. In the exhibition, we will prominently showcase the adherence to the leadership of the Party, and specially design key storylines such as "important decisions and deployment of all sessions of the CPC National Congress and of important plenary sessions of the CPC Central Committee" and "economic and social development in all Five-Year Plan periods." Through the comprehensive display of these major historical events and achievements, the exhibition will fully demonstrate the heroic spirit and grand vision of the entire Party and the people of all ethnic groups to achieve the "two centenary goals" under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.

The second area is to place people at the center. Our Party comes from the people, is born for the people, and is prosperous because of the people. In order to let the audience have an intimate understanding of the changes in the past seven decades, and to effectively improve their sense of identification, participation, and resonance, the exhibition is designed not only to highlight "state affairs," "big events" and "major achievements in equipment manufacturing." It also stresses "family and everyday matters." For example, dacron material, which may never be heard to some of you, will be displayed at the exhibition. It is the first generation of chemical fiber products of China. The exhibition will also show the first agritainment homestay for tourists, the cancellation of food ration coupons, the "toilet revolution", etc. It will also feature a specially designed wedding room scene back in the 1950s, scenes of urban and rural households in the early days of reform and opening up, and models of today's government-subsidized houses and houses for families relocated from inhospitable areas. Everyone can view these displays, which showcase the tremendous changes in daily life over the past 70 years. This truly makes the exhibition an exhibition of the people.

The third area is to focus on innovative exhibition methods. This exhibition is not the same as other exhibitions. It is based on the linear logic of different eras. Everyone will be time traveling in a time tunnel, and the development of the past 70 years will resonate with people of all ages. For example, with the use of industrial products' components, sand table models and other physical objects, the 150 "firsts" achieved in various fields in the past 70 years will be displayed, and eye-catching signs for them have been designed. You may take a look at them when visiting the exhibition. For another example, a heroic role model wall will be specially set up. Heroes and role models emerging in every 10 years will be displayed to show the hard work and dedication of the Chinese nation. To give you an additional example, after the National Day parade, some floats will be parked at the south square of the Beijing Exhibition Center and will be displayed to add atmosphere to the exhibition. Furthermore, in order to expand the reach of the exhibition, we will hold online exhibitions to enable more people to experience and engage with the exhibition anytime and anywhere, so that more people can experience the brilliant achievements of the past 70 years. Thank you.
