Lianhe Zaobao:

I would like to ask a question about the military parade. Will this year's parade be bigger than usual? Will we have a chance to see the debut of any high-tech equipment, like the DF-41 missile?

Cai Zhijun:

Thank you for your attention to this aspect, I will answer your question. It's a common practice and tradition for many countries to hold military parades during important festivals. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, so the CPC Central Committee and the Central Military Commission have decided to hold a military parade at the Tian'anmen Square. In essence, a parade is a military ceremony to inspect a country's armed forces, as well as an important part of the country's major celebrations. This year's parade, the first National Day parade in the new era, will fully display the achievements of national defense and the building of the army in the past seven decades, highlight the PLA's great endeavor in reform, and showcase its vitality and strength to contribute to our national prosperity and rejuvenation. We will manage the scale of the parade properly and debut some of our advanced weapons and equipment. Generally speaking, this year's parade will be bigger than the previous ones held to mark the 50th and 60th anniversaries of the founding of the People's Republic of China and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The parade is expected to showcase the new look of the people's army at this new historic starting point as well as its open and self-confident image as a world-class military force. It should also be pointed out that the parade is an important part of major celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary, which does not target any country or region or any particular situation. China's armed forces have always been a staunch force for world peace and regional stability, committed to maintaining global peace and serving the lofty cause of building a community of shared future for mankind. At the same time, we have the determination and ability to resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty, security and development interests, as well as safeguard and promote world peace and stability.

As for whether some new weapons and equipment will be displayed or not, please wait for our later announcement since it's only one month before the parade.

Guo Weimin:

We will release the relevant news in a timely fashion. Please continue with your questions.
