The Chinese Dream proposed by President Xi Jinping motivates the Chinese people to adamantly follow the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It has also made widespread repercussions throughout the world. On one hand, people in many countries look forward to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, whereas on the other hand, the term has been met with doubt and misunderstanding.

For a large number of non-Chinese, their Chinese Dream is to tap into China's huge potential market. Some Western scholars have misconstrued the Chinese Dream as an effort to build a stronger China – a world power that other countries in Asia and even the rest of the world would be subordinate to.

To realize the Chinese Dream, we need a sound public opinion environment. We must pay enough attention to the negative impact rendered by misunderstandings, prejudices or distortions. Correctly presenting the Chinese Dream to the world is an important mission for publicity and public diplomatic work. We should make it clear that the Chinese Dream is not to serve China's self-interests and nor for China to seek hegemony; it is a dream that can be shared with the world and promotes world peace and development.

The Chinese Dream concerns China's general development trend. It can only remain viable by taking on new and substantive content that keep up with the times. At the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), it was declared that to realize the great dream of rejuvenating the Chinese nation, we must comprehensively deepen reform from a new starting point.
