The Chinese Dream consolidates the great power of the Chinese people, represents pursuits of the lofty ideals of Chinese people, serves as spiritual support for Chinese Communists, and illuminates memories of Chinese history. It is a driver of the country and demonstrates the nation's sublime ambition. The pioneers of the Chinese revolution discovered Marxism and learned from the revolutionary experience of the former Soviet Union, becoming determined to save China through socialism and to build a strong nation. They determined the direction of the Chinese Dream and laid its foundation.

New Democracy was designed by adapting Marxism to China's realities. Due to many historical factors, New Democracy could not be fully implemented, but after unremitting exploration, it has become a cornerstone of the primary stage of socialism with distinct Chinese characteristics. Also, many elements of New Democracy have become the important parts of the modern Chinese Dream.

The early days of the PRC were colored by the exploration phase of the modern Chinese Dream. It established the basic frame for China's socialist system, set the goal of pursuing modernization for the Chinese people, and created the diplomatic guidelines of "Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence," providing preliminary concepts which would become the Chinese Dream. The Chinese Dream in this period was marred by numerous na?ve defects, which resulted in handfuls of disastrous aftermaths and proved that a Chinese Dream could not be realized through unrealistic endeavors. The only access to realize the Chinese Dream is the socialist road with Chinese characteristics. This is the result of China's thousands of years of ancient history, the culmination of two centuries of modern history and law after 60-odd years of development of the PRC. Deng Xiaoping, chief architect of China's reform and opening-up program, believed that the Chinese road would lead to the realization of the Chinese Dream.

The Chinese Dream proposed by President Xi Jinping shares the essence of socialism with Chinese characteristics and marks the consolidation of the Chinese road, spirit and power. It is a dream of China's rejuvenation, shared by both domestic and overseas Chinese people. The Chinese Dream, American Dream, Asian Dream and World Dream share commonalities. China has never been so close to realizing its dream.
