Abstract

Chinese culture is multi-national and is a world of diversities and co-existence. For centuries, Chinese culture has been communicating with cultures of the neighboring countries and the outside world, demonstrating a great deal of continuation, flexibility and inclusiveness. The fact that Marxism emerging out of European cultures has been accepted by China and applied to China's actual conditions best illustrates the self-innovation capacity of Chinese culture. The concept of the Chinese dream was created against this background. The Chinese dream is inclusive and progresses with the times.

Chinese culture is non-excludable and humanistic, which allows for the peaceful co-existence of different religions. The same is true of the Chinese dream that is flexible, open and mature. Shanghai is the snapshot of the Chinese dream, as thousands of young people from home and abroad are coming to this city for better opportunities. This inclusive city is the embodiment of the Chinese dream.

The Chinese dream is supported by our sense of common identity. Its core values are non-excludable and lay solid foundations for building a harmonious society. The inclusiveness of the Chinese dream will encourage positive energy in society and at the same time maintain the individual initiatives. The Chinese dream should be the dream where cultural diversity is maintained and the dreams of individuals grow and integrate with each other.
