Abstract

The concept of "co-existence" has long been ignored both home and abroad. The idea of co-existence should be championed in dialogues between diverse civilizations, in the new type of great power relationship, as well as in the relationship between big and small countries. Actually, co-existence as a value and principle has been gradually spreading in international relations and communications between civilizations.

Peaceful development, harmony and co-existence are particularly precious in this world full of non-peaceful development, disharmony and non-coexistence. China should be committed to pursuing a development path of harmony and co-existence together with other countries in order to build an international order with harmony and co-existence. The wisdom and value of co-existence is rooted in China's peaceful development and the common destiny of humanity. Co-existence as a common value is found in different civilizations. It has a neutral ground and is different from values such as freedom and democracy which are more subjective and even abusively interpreted by a few countries. Therefore, co-existence is more easily accepted as a shared value in this multi-polar world and information age with diverse civilizations and economic globalization.
