On Mar 11, 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake occurred off northeast coast of Honshu, setting off a devastating tsunami and resulting in heavy casualties and property loss. On the first anniversary of the earthquake, Xiang Wenbo, a NPC deputy and President of Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd expressed his condolences to the Japanese and expressed his admiration for the indomitable spirit of the Japanese affected by earthquake through China.org.cn.

"During the first anniversary of Japan's earthquake, on behalf of all staff of Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd, I express our admiration for the indomitable spirit of the Japanese people affected by the earthquake and hope the friendship between China and Japan lasts forever," Xiang Wenbo wrote for Japanese netizens.

On Mar 19, 2011, in order to deal with the nuclear crises caused by earthquake, Tokyo Electric Power Company has requested a 62 meter concrete pump truck from Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd to start water cooling for nuclear power units. Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd responded immediately, providing a US$1 million 62 meter concrete pump truck for free.
