China's top legislature ends annual session

The fifth session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, held its closing meeting in Beijing Wednesday morning.

The meeting was presided over by Wu Bangguo, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, at the Great Hall of the People. President Hu Jintao and other top leaders were in attendance.

The deputies adopted Premier Wen Jiabao's government work report, the country's 2012 plan for national economic and social development, the revision to the Criminal Procedure Law, the method for the election of deputies to the 12th NPC from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), the method for the election of deputies to the 12th NPC from the Macao SAR and some other reports and documents.
