CPPCC saves 2 mln yuan by going paperless

Zhang Jing'an, head of the Information Office at the General Office of the National Committee of the CPPCC, said the CPPCC will save 2 million yuan ($320,000) thanks to a series of measures initiated during its first session that will help reduce expenditures.

The measures include the decreased use and distribution of printed materials and the online publication of speeches and proposals from CPPCC members, he said.

Zhang said the conference will abide by the principles of “simple and frugal”, and CPPCC members are encouraged to make their speeches concise and to the point.
